This conference explores how language education can respond coherently
and effectively to the complex sociolinguistic environments shaped by
migration, global mobility, multilingualism, and large student
cohorts. A central focus is Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) as a
pedagogical framework capable of addressing these dynamics, placed in
dialogue with discipline-informed traditions including ELF, LSP, LAP,
LSAP, EMI, and CLIL.
The conference welcomes contributions on the teaching and learning of
English and other languages, with particular attention to higher
education contexts. Theoretical, empirical, and practice-based
submissions are all welcome.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
– Interaction and engagement in large-enrolment and multilingual
classrooms
– TBLT design in contexts of mobility, migration, and linguistic
diversity
– Integration of TBLT with discipline-informed approaches
– Technology-mediated and digitally-enriched task design
– Teacher education and professional development for TBLT
– Informal language exposure and its role in task-based learning
Keynote Speakers:
- Rod Ellis – Curtin University, Australia
- Rosemary Erlam – University of Auckland, New Zealand
- Maria Pavesi – University of Pavia, Italy
