Language Documentation Summer School (LDSS2026)

Minimum Education Level: Undergraduate or above

Focus: The University of Naples «L’Orientale», in collaboration with
the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, the University of Tuscia, and
Ethnorêma Association, is pleased to host the twelfth edition of
Language Documentation, which will take place in Naples from September
21 to 25, 2026. The Language Documentation Summer School 2026 (LDSS
2026) aims to provide participants with an introduction to the methods
and tools of linguistic fieldwork. In this edition, special attention
will be devoted to two African languages: Amazigh (Berber), an
Afro-Asiatic language, and Nara, a Northern East Sudanic language.
Description:
LDSS2026 will provide an introduction to the methods and tools of
linguistic fieldwork, with lectures and hands-on training in language
documentation, description, and revitalisation. Special attention will
be devoted to Amazigh (Berber) and Nara, with practical sessions
involving native speakers of the two languages.

Tuition: 120.0 EURO
Tuition Explanation: The registration includes a coffee break and a
lunch break from Tuesday to Friday in the Department, and the material
for the school.
