The University of Wisconsin-Madison Language Sciences Program &
Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invite submissions
for papers to be presented at the 47th Annual International Child
Phonology Conference, to be held in-person May 27-29, 2026, at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison.
The conference brings together researchers from across disciplines to
discuss theoretical, empirical, and clinical perspectives on
children’s phonology. The conference supports a multi- and
interdisciplinary approach across phonology, phonetics, interfaces
with other grammatical levels, speech production, speech perception,
psycholinguistics, clinical linguistics, sign language phonology,
computational modeling, educational approaches, and the application of
new technologies.
Specific topics include (but are not limited to):
- acquisition and use
- L1, L2, L3, Ln
- dialect variation and pronunciation
- typical and atypical development
- multimodal communication
- assessment, remediation
- maintenance, loss and attrition
- speech recognition and processing
- speech and hearing impairment
- cultural and linguistic diversity
ICPC 2026 welcomes proposals for oral and poster presentations on all
aspects of children's speech in typical and atypical contexts in
monolingualism, multilingualism, early second language acquisition,
dialects, and sign language phonology. Work on Indigenous, minority,
and under-researched languages is also encouraged.
Submission Guidelines:
We invite submissions for oral or poster presentations. There is a
limit of one presentation (oral or poster) as a primary (first)
author. This does not exclude the opportunity to be a co-author on an
unlimited number of abstracts. Abstracts will be a maximum of 500
words (excluding references, tables/figures). Oral presentations will
be 30 minutes (25 minutes with 5 minutes for discussion). The deadline
for abstract submissions is MARCH 2, 2026. Notifications of acceptance
will be on or before MARCH 23, 2026.
