The Department of Global Languages and Cultures at Northern Arizona
University is looking for highly motivated candidates for admission to
the MAT Spanish program
(https://legacy.nau.edu/global-languages/graduate-programs/teaching-spanish)
in Fall 2026. We offer positions for prospective graduate students
interested in learning and teaching with our vibrant team of faculty
members and graduate students.
Application Deadline: on a rolling basis.
The Department of Global Languages and Cultures has teaching and
research expertise in the following areas:
- Second Language Teaching (Asención Delaney, Leal-Arenas,
Colmenares)
- Technology in the Second Language Classroom (Asención Delaney,
Leal-Arenas, Collentine)
- Bilingual, second and heritage language acquisition (Asención
Delaney, Collentine, Leal-Arenas)
- Spanish Phonology and Phonetics (Collentine, Leal-Arenas)
- Curriculum Design (Colmenares, Asención Delaney)
- Latin-American, Spanish and Equatoguinean literature (Heredia,
Hood, Jackson, Neustadt, Price)
Accepted MA students are provided two years of funding in the form of
Graduate Teaching Assistantships ($15,000). To gain teaching
experience, MA students are required to teach two (2) 100 or 200-level
Spanish courses each semester.
