We are pleased to announce that the 15th Workshop Formal Linguistics
will be held at Federal University of Minas Gerais from May 25 to May
29.
In its fifteenth edition, Workshop on Formal Linguistics is by now a
consolidated event on Theoretical Linguistics in Brazil and abroad. In
this edition, we aim this event to continue being a forum of
discussion for high quality research in progress about natural
languages using formal frameworks. This edition will also feature a
special section about “Tense and Aspect”. Hence, in addition to
welcoming abstracts on any linguistic topic explored with formal
frameworks, we expect to receive contributions to this special
session.
In this edition, our invited speakers are:
Andrés Saab (University of Buenos Aires)
Brenda Laca (Universidad de la República - Uruguay)
Cilene Rodrigues (Puc-Rio)
Marcelo Ferreira (University of São Paulo)
Susi Wurmbrand (University of Vienna/ University of Salzburg) - to be
confirmed
We invite abstract submissions for 20-minute talks (plus 10 minutes
for discussion) and/or posters on any topic on formal linguistics,
such as:
 - Formal Phonology
 - Formal Morphology
 - Formal Syntax
 - Formal Semantics
 - Formal Pragmatics
 - Grammar Interfaces Issues in a Formal Approach
 - Tense and Aspect (special session)
All abstracts should be anonymous, written in English, with no more
than two pages (including examples and references), in A4 format, with
2.5 cm margins, single-spaced, and with font size 12pt (Times New
Roman). Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint
abstract per author, or two joint abstracts per author.
When you submit your abstract please indicate whether you would like
it to be considered: (i) for a talk only; (ii) for a talk or a poster;
or (iii) for a poster only.
Important Dates:
Submission period: 1 February 2026 – 20 February 2026
Notification of outcome: 30 March 2026
