The study of "inclusive language" in Spanish has been predominantly
approached from disciplines such as sociolinguistics,
psycholinguistics, and critical discourse analysis, and it has been
understood as a social practice or as a space for identity
construction. However, the description of these phenomena from the
internal perspective of linguistics and formal grammar remains notably
scarce. The main objective of this monographic panel is to bring
together researchers from the field of Hispanic theoretical grammar to
provide a dynamic environment in which to debate the structural
implications of inclusive language in the Spanish linguistic system.
This panel explores the hypothesis that inclusive language could
represent an emerging linguistic variety, endowed with systematic
morphosyntactic rules and capable of being formalized as a subgrammar.
We will debate the concept of "multiple competence", analyzing how the
same speaker can harbor coexisting and partially differentiated
grammatical representations that are activated depending on pragmatic
or contextual factors. The panel will foster formal debate around the
grammatical "tensions" that these innovations cause in the standard
norm. Topics of discussion may include, among others, the status of
emerging morphemes such as e or -x, the internal structure of
coordinated determiners (e.g., los y las niñas), and the hybrid
agreement patterns originated by collective nouns. Likewise, we will
address phenomena such as the generic use of the pronoun una versus
the normative uno and the syntactic restrictions and asymmetries
observed in nominal ellipsis in contexts of gender resolution.

Objectives:
- To detail the grammatical phenomena associated with inclusive
language strategies and analyze the structural "tensions" that these
phenomena introduce into the grammar system of Spanish and its
varieties compared to normative Spanish.
- To provide explanatory analyses of these strategies from the
frameworks of formal grammar, in order to evaluate whether they derive
from the extension of already existing linguistic resources or from
broader mechanisms of linguistic variation and change.
- To determine whether inclusive language constitutes an alternative
and internally coherent morphosyntactic subsystem (an emerging
subgrammar) or if, on the contrary, it is a heterogeneous set of
partially grammaticalized ad hoc strategies.
- To model the grammatical architecture that explains the coexistence
of the standard normative variety and the inclusive variety within the
competence of individual speaker
