Against a backdrop of global educational change, rapid advances in
digital technologies, and ongoing transformations in knowledge
production, language and literacy education is facing unprecedented
opportunities and challenges. Issues such as artificial intelligence,
digital literacy, multimodal learning, changes in scholarly
communication, and educational equity are reshaping research
paradigms, theoretical development, and classroom practice in the
field.
In response to emerging social needs and disciplinary developments,
and to promote dialogue among scholars, educators, and early-career
researchers from around the world, the Centre for Language and
Literacy Education, Faculty of Education, University of Macau, in
collaboration with Elsevier, will host the international conference
Transforming Practice, Shaping Theory: The Future of Language and
Literacy Education on 16–17 October 2026 at the University of Macau.
The Conference focuses on frontier issues, innovative practices, and
future directions in language and literacy education. Topics for
submissions include but are not limited to:language learning and
language development, language assessment and testing, reading and
writing instruction and assessment, digital literacy and
technology-enhanced language education, curriculum design and teaching
materials development, language teacher education and professional
development.
We warmly invite researchers, practitioners and graduate students in
related fields from around the world to submit proposals and join us
at the conference to explore the future of language and literacy
