The Arabic Linguistics Society (ALS) and the University of California,
Berkeley’s department of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures are
pleased to announce the 40th Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics
(ASAL40) to be held at the University of California, Berkeley from
April 2 to 4, 2027.
Papers are invited on topics that deal with a variety of issues in
Arabic linguistics. Presentations on research in the following areas
of Arabic linguistics are welcome:
- Linguistic analysis (Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Semantics, and
Pragmatics)
- Sociolinguistics
- Psycholinguistics
- Historical linguistics
- Computational linguistics
- Language acquisition (First, Second, and Heritage)
- Neurolinguistics
- Clinical linguistics
- Discourse analysis
Keynote Speakers:
- Terry Regier, UC Berkeley, United States.
- Stuart Davis, Indiana, United States.
- Atiqa Hachimi, Toronto, Canada.
Submission Instructions:
If you are interested in presenting a paper, you should prepare an
abstract following the guidelines at this link:

Abstracts submitted must be written in English. Abstracts written in
any other language will be rejected. Please also note that abstracts
submitted by e-mail will not be accepted. To submit to your abstract,
