El Colegio de México A. C., Escuela Nacional de Lenguas, Lingüística y
Traducción UNAM, and Instituto de Investigaciones Antropológicas UNAM,
invite presentation proposals for the VII Formal Linguistics Meeting
in Mexico (ELF) to be held on September 1, 2, and 3, 2026 at El
Colegio de México, Mexico City.
The Formal Linguistics Meeting aims to bring together researchers who
consider formal approaches to the study of language in order to foster
the exchange and discussion of linguistic phenomena and their
theoretical implications. We invite proposals based on any formal
linguistics theoretical framework (Minimalism, Optimality Theory,
Formal Semantics, Distributed Morphology, HPSG, among others) used for
the analysis of linguistic phenomena at different grammatical levels
(syntax, semantics, pragmatics, morphology, phonology, language
acquisition, and interface studies).

Only on-site presentations will be accepted: 20 minutes for
presentation plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion.
Abstract Submission: the call for proposals is open from the
publication of this announcement until its closing. Abstracts should
include:
- Title of the presentation.
- A description of the problem, objectives, examples, main results,
and references.
- Abstracts should be a maximum of two double-spaced pages, Times New
Roman, 12 pt., with 2.5 cm margins. The maximum length includes data,
figures, diagrams, and references.
- Abstracts can be submitted in English or Spanish.
Abstracts must be completely anonymous and should be submitted as a
PDF file via: https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/conference/ELF_2026/
Abstracts that do not comply with the above guidelines will not be
reviewed.
Important Dates:
- Deadline for submission of abstracts: April 12, 2026
- Notification of acceptance: June 7, 2026
- Meeting dates: September 1-3, 2026
Registration Fee:
- Researchers and graduate students: $300 Mexican Pesos
- Undergraduate students: $100 Mexican Pesos
- Attendees requiring a certificate (covering 80% of the conference’s
sessions): $300 Mexican Pesos.
- Free admission for attendees who do not require a certificate.
Note: The deposit information registration fees will be sent in the
email of notification of acceptance. After this notification,
participants will have a maximum of one month to make the payment.
