Subject: Call for Book Chapters: Pathology and Impairment in Language and Literature

Scope and goals of the volume:
Language impacts human cognition, communication, and identity.
Language disorders and impairments, such as aphasia, dyslexia,
developmental language disorder, and hearing impairment, call into
question established notions of linguistic competence and
communication practices.
Disorders of speech and/or language rank among the most prevalent
developmental challenges in young children. These issues are referred
to as "primary" if their cause is unknown and "secondary" if they are
brought on by another disorder like autism, hearing loss, general
developmental issues, behavioural or emotional issues, or neurological
impairment (Stark 1981; Plante 1998). These conditions have
therapeutic and educational ramifications, but they also raise
fundamental issues in linguistics, literary studies, discourse
analysis, and cultural representation.
This edited volume welcomes both theoretical and empirical
contributions, including corpus-based studies, discourse analysis,
narrative analysis, clinical research, and literary interpretations.
The editor is seeking submissions related to the following topics:
Language Impairments
Language Pathology and Disability Studies
Language Impairment in Literature
Educational and Pedagogical Perspectives
Corpus and Discourse Approaches
Other related tracks and topics will also be considered.
