Conference on Innovations in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language
explores how new ideas, technologies, and methods are reshaping the
way Chinese is learned and taught in Canada and North America. The
conference brings together educators, scholars, and practitioners to
share evidence-based research, creative classroom practices, and
innovative pedagogies that respond to diverse learner needs and
evolving social contexts.
Topics included but not limited to:
 - Innovation in teaching approaches
 - New methods in Chinese language pedagogy
 - Innovations in teaching technologies, including AI
Abstract Submission Deadlines:
May 31, 2026: Abstract submission deadline
July 25, 2026: Notifications of acceptance
Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words in English or 500
characters in Chinese.  Send your abstract in a Word document to
uacml at ualberta.ca by 11:59pm (Mountain Time) May 31, 2026.
Each paper presentation is 15 minutes followed by a 5-10 minute
question/discussion period.
Registration Fee:
Early bird registration (on or before October 1, 2026) for non-CLTRA
members:  $100 CAD
Early bird registration (on or before October 1, 2026) for CLTRA
members:  $80 CAD
Onsite registration: $120 CAD
Registration Notes:
Participants must register and pay the registration fee.
Refund and cancellation requests must be received in writing before
October 15, 2018. There is a service charge for refunds.

 - The conference will provide meals and snacks.
