The 34th Japanese/Korean Linguistics Conference will be held at Stony
Brook University (the State University of New York at Stony Brook) on
June 2-4, 2027.
The Japanese/Korean Linguistics Conference is an annual meeting
dedicated to the study of Japanese and Korean languages. Contributions
addressing any aspect of Japanese or Korean linguistics, as well as
comparative studies of these languages with other languages are
welcome.

- Young-mee Yu Cho (Rutgers University)
- Sunwoo Jeong (Seoul National University)
- Richard Larson (Stony Brook University)
- Ayaka Sugawara (Waseda University)
Special Session: Endangered and low resource languages and dialects in
Japan and Korea
- Masahiro Yamada (National Institute for Japanese Language and
Linguistics)
- Akiko Yokoyama (National Institute for Japanese Language and
Linguistics)
The conference welcomes abstracts from all subfields of linguistics,
including syntax, semantics, morphology, phonology, phonetics,
language acquisition, psycholinguistics, computational linguistics,
sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, and language variation and
change. We also encourage abstracts on understudied languages and
dialects in Japan and Korea, including work employing fieldwork
methods and language documentation, for the special session. We
welcome abstracts that demonstrate the value of diverse approaches,
methodologies, and data sources. The abstract submission website will
open in early December, 2026.

- Abstract submission deadline: January 20, 2027, 11:59pm EST
- Notification of acceptance: Late February, 2027
- Conference dates: June 2-4, 2027
