HISTLING Exchange, hosted by the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies and
supported by the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, is an
interdisciplinary event that brings together philologists,
computational linguists, and scholars of religious studies to offer a
comprehensive investigation into the future of Buddhist philology in
the age of digital humanities and AI research. The event builds on the
background of public-facing education in ancient languages provided
annually through the Summer School for Ancient Trans-Himalayan
Languages at Trinity (SSATH). Through SSATH and other associated
events, the Trinity Centre for Asian Studies aims to show how the
knowledge of ancient languages can inform research across disciplines,
while instruction in computational research methods introduces
students to digital humanities and its relationship to philology.
