Journal: Journal of the European Second Language Association

JESLA is the European Second Language Association's member-only
Journal. JESLA is Diamond Open Access, ranked as Q-1 on SCOPUS and
listed on many other global indexes. Publication is free to members,
with no processing charges to you as author.
Papers can be submitted at any point, with the advantages of no-cost
open access, and fast turnaround; we aim for 6-9 months between
submission and publication. Publication is rolling year-round, but for
papers listed in next year’s Volume (2027), our aim is to turn around
papers submitted up to and including 1st June 2027.    
Each year one submission is awarded the JESLA Best Article Prize,
presented at our annual Conference, based on peer review ratings of
its originality and contribution to the field.  
Submissions to JESLA are accepted from EuroSLA members of good
standing – i.e. at least one author should be a current member who has
attended at least one EuroSLA conference in the last four years. You
can also remind colleagues with publishable projects on second
language research topics who share an interest in the Association, but
who are not currently members, that they can join EuroSLA at any time
of year, using the links on our website.
The submitted papers may draw on the work presented at a recent
conference, but it could also be new work not previously showcased at
EuroSLA. We welcome empirical, theoretical and methodological research
papers, including meta-analyses, from both well-established authors
and emerging early-career researchers. No specific theories or
approaches are given preference.
Note: for any new authors, the editing team can offer support and
guidance through the publication process.
Look out also later this month for our next Call for Papers for
JESLA's Special Collection #05 (2028) on a dedicated theme; for
Special Collection proposals at least one Guest Editor should be a
member, but co-editing and submissions are welcomed from non-members.
