Project:
European Advanced Multilingual Information System (EURAMIS) is a
system which has a database of 420 millions text snippets in 23
langues. Currently, there exist an automatic translation system that
is using linguistic and semantic rules for translation. The goal is
now to develop a new system which is based on statistics and applies
machine learning techniques. The system needs to support between
10.000 and 100.000 users, so it has to fulfill high performance
requirements. The start of the project is in September.
Profile:
- PhD in Computational Linguistics (possibly with experience in
Computer-Assisted and Automatic Translation systems)
Tasks:
- Be involved in the design and development of a statistical
Computer-Assisted Translation tool
- Play the interface role between the translation and IT experts to
ensure both linguistic quality of translation, while maintaining
performance of the system at the requested level.
- Ensure quality control
- Prepare the initial data set (this includes tagging, domain/semantic
classification, enriching meta-data, ...)
