From: $ Elsie Zinsser [ezinsser at simpross.co.za]
Subject: Correction on wrong pronunciation of Afrikaans /ee/ and /oo/
Hi, all!
> I made a booboo the other day when I responded on a question
on how the
> Afrikaans _ee_ (as in E. deer) and > _oo_ > as in (E. moor) is
pronounced.
I wrongly stated that a swingy sound /j/ is added in between the
/oo/ and /ee/.
> It should have been a voiced /h/ swingy sound.
As for example:
>
> [f at rmo:{h}r] _vermoor_
> [f at rme:{h}rd at r] _vermeerder_
>
Hope I did not cause any funny talk...
Cheers!
Elsie Zinsser
