A dinna think things is as baud as John's sayin. For aw that the
fowk he's thinkin on wadna see tradeitional Scots as haein muckle
tae dae wi thaimsels, on the haill they'd regaird the like o "dreich" an
[l0x] as "teuchter" speik, an aw richt comin fae that kin o fowk.

Whan ye hear "dreich" in the middle o a BBC wather forecast, that
ivverie ither hint o Scots his been eydentlie siftit oot o, A think

I dinna ken mysel, but thay say the Morningside an Kelvinside accents is
deein oot noo. For shuir the only fowk I'v iver haurd speakin thaim is auld
fowk. Ane o the doctors in oor pairts's mither - frae Dunoon - speaks like
thon, but she (the doctor) speaks aither ordinar Scottish English or braid
Scots hersel.
