Ane o ma favourites is a coffee shop in Hawick caa'd "The Coffin End"
(a coffin end bein the uizual Scots & Scottish English term for the
nairae end o a tenement that stauns itsel atween twa roads).

The war a incident in Tranent a while back whan a shopkeeper pat up a
sign sayin "Please Beware, Slippery Flair", an a health inspector tried ti
say it haed ti be "Floor". The shopkeeper telt him he wad haud the him
responsible if he chynged it an ane o the locals slippit a fit, an the
health
inspector piped doun!
