De toekomst van het Jiddisch

Volgende week vindt in Straatsburg een debat plaats over de toekomst van
de Jiddische taal. Academici, artiesten, journalisten en parlementsleden
zullen van gedachten wisselen over de manier waarop het Jiddisch, dat nu
nog door 2 miljoen mensen en vóór de holocaust door 8 miljoen gesproken
werd, een nieuw impuls gegeven kan worden en zo de Jiddische cultuur
promoten.

Het debat zal geopend worden door ambassadeur Sheval Weiss, gewezen
voorzitter van het Israëlische parlement en voorzitter van Yad Vashem en
Emmanuel Zingeris, verslaggever voor het Europese parlement over cultuur
en opvoeding.
