The spelling is the one of "De Vries & Te Winkel" of 1865. A unified
spelling for Belgium and the Netherlands was a necessity for having a
consistent dictionnary for both countries. The formal adoption of this
spelling by the Belgian government was the first step to the formal
"language unity" between both countries.

While the De Vries & Te Winkel spelling was reviewed around 1950 and a
second time around 1995, the remainig volumes of the WNT continued to be
published in the 1865 spelling.

The (new) CD-ROM also includes the book: "A. Moerdijk, Handleiding WNT"

The numbering of the volumes is at least confusing,

bestaat uit 29 delen in 39 banden, een supplementdeel op de letter A in één

band, en de normaal ook in één band samengenomen Bronnenlijst van 1943 met
zijn twee aanvullingen van 1953 en 1966.

- band: a volume as __bound__ (or a collection of leaflets to be bound by
the subscriber)
- deel: a volume with a __content__ structured to form a volume.
