Voorzover ik weet is in het gehele kustgebied van Nederland en België de
uitspraak in lokale taal 'kieke' of 'kieken' met /ii/ klank, dominant.
Dus hoewel kijken standaard Nederlands is, hoor je bijvoorbeeld hier in
Goes, maar ook op vele andere plaatsen 'kieke(n)'. Dit geldt bij mijn
weten ook voor het Westvlaams. Dus kan kijken best nog na de
verschuiving /ii/ --> /@i/ zijn overgebracht naar Schotland.

Het werkwoord (verb) kijken is in WF 'sjen'. Maar in allerlei
samenstellingen vind je de 'kiek' stam toch terug, zoals bijvoorbeeld in
'immen te kyk sette' (iemand te kijk zetten, make a fool of someone).
