Subject: Big it up

This is my first posting, so sorry in advance if it goes horribly wrong!

Anyway. Does anyone know if the word "big" in the phrase "big it up!" has any
relation to the Scots word "big",
meaning build? The meaning is the similar, although I suspect that even if it
DOES derive from Scots, it has acheived
popularity because of the meaning of the English word "big".
