Subject: Etymology

Dear Lowlanders,

Is the Modern Scandinavian word _men_ for 'but' a loan from Middle Low
Saxon (Low German)?  Modern Low Saxon has _man_ (being used in various
ways, much like Dutch and Afrikaans _maar_), and Icelandic _en_ for 'but'.
