Subject: Dialects
I have been a subscriber to your mailing list for some time now just
reading what other people send in.
Not in the spirit of the thing i know but still I know relatively little
(i.e. nothing) regarding linguistics.
I was wondering if anyone out there knew anything about a certain
dialect of English that used to be spoken in the region of England where
I was born but seems to have died out now.
I was born in Rochdale in Lancashire and was interested in whether
anyone on the list knew anything about it and any resources available.
I am also interested in its descent from Anglian/Saxon/Danish or
whichever one, or indeed, all of them, it descendsfrom
Much Appreciated
Jonathon Parr
