> Heavin up ma either han
> Cauld as paddocks tho they be,
> A pray God gie yer grace tae me
> Amen
A wis wonderin aboot yer spellin o "either" here - hou wad
ye pronoonce that in your Scots? ['i:D at r], wi a simple vowel,
or ['a:iD at r], wi a lang diphthong like in English? Or div ye
brek the Scots Vowel Length Rule an say it ['@iD at r] wi a short
diphthong? An whatanever, can A assume that ye soond "neither"
sae's it rhymes wi this?
A aye says ['e:D at r], an sae writes "aither".
