English version:

Dear Lowlanders,

today I have been asked by a friend whether I knew if the German (and
apparently also Dutch and Westfrisian) idiom

"jemandem klaren / reinen Wein einschenken"

meaning "to (finally) tell the truth to someone" does also exist in
other
Germanic (or any other) languages.

Leyve Jan,

In 't Noord-Leyglandsche segt 'n ook "raynen wyn in-schinken" ("reinen
Wien inschinken"), in 't Afrikaanse ook _helder wyn skink_.  (Ik glöyv',
dat kümt daar vun, dat dey Minschen in olde tyden tou meyrst tsukker or
honnig in wyn deen.)

In Northern Low Saxon (Low German) you can also say _rainen wiin
in-schinken_ (_reinen Wien inschinken_ ['ra.In: vi:n '?InSI.NkN=]), in
Afrikaans also _helder wyn skink_, thus "to pour/serve (someone)
clear/pure wine," meaning 'to be frank (with someone)', 'to tell
(someone) the unadulterated truth', 'to be blunt (with someone)', 'to
lay the cards on the table', 'to say it as it is'.  (I suspect that this
refers to the old practice of adding -- or in this case *not* adding --
sugar or honey to wine.)
