Dear friends,
I am a newcomer to this group, and will send my introductory message
shortly.
Please forgive me my poosibly greenhornish approach, but I can´t resist
jumping in there cold
following the message of Roman Laryushkin about Finnish. I had first
contact with this
"non-indo-european" language a few years ago and the similarities with
i.-e. Languages struck me.
Pronomina, as mentioned by Roman, but also the verb endings (-n, -t, -,
-mme, -tte, -vat) and many
words pertaining to basic human activities (vesi=water, root "ved-").
Ron´s news that many
scholars now consider defining new language super-families I find very
appealing.
