Dear Lowlanders,

The burgeoning pentecostal churches in North, Central and South
America--I
know not where else--have brought the concept into the very center of
their lives.

Not so the words "Whitsunday, Whitsuntide." They are gone in America. In
fact, one of my favorite stupid little jokes is to wish some hapless
victim "Happy Whitsuntide!"
