Subject: Help needed Surinaamse talen

Dear Lowlanders:

I want to ask you for some information about some of
the many languages spoken in Surinam:
- Surinaamse Nederlands and its differences with the
ABN or Standard Nederlands
- Creole languages such as Sranan, Saramaccan and
Ndjuka (I am not sure if there are more Creoles spoken
in Surinam with English as a lexifier)
Of course, I know this is a email list intended
primarily for those language varieties spoken or
originating in the Lowlands but, as Pidgins and
Creoles with a Lowlands language as lexifier are not
explicitly excluded, I dare to ask you about
comprehensive, trustworthy and, if possible, updated
resources (I also know that these are not absolutely
coincident categories): courses, pedagogical and
reference grammars, bilingual dictionaries and
interesting material to read about them and in them.
I would like to compile a bilingual Sranan-Spanish
dictionary to fill this gap in our knowledge of
American linguistic landscape. More about it in next
e-mails.
