Subject: Scots-Irish

I was just thinking about the Scots-Irish people and the Scots dialect.

The Scots dialect has many Gaelic lnfluences (and Scandinavian/Old English),
so I was wondering if the Scots had Gaelic-speaking ancestors, or were their
ancestors Germanic for the most part?
