LoveGate.C is een mass-mailer internetworm die zich onder sterk
wisselende
eigenschappen kan verspreiden. Na infectie selecteert het op de besmette
pc
een aantal e-mailberichten waarop het zich als antwoord doorstuurt.
Daardoor lijkt het voor de ontvanger een betrouwbaar (en verwacht)
bericht.
Infectie vindt plaats door het bijgevoegde bestand (.exe) handmatig te
openen.

LoveGate.C is vooralsnog actief in Engeland, Duitsland en Zuid-Afrika.
De
verwachting is dat het binnen 18 uur in de Benelux zal arriveren.

Wij adviseren de laatste updates van uw antivirussoftware te installeren
en
via een gratis online scanner een second-check op uw systeem uit te
voeren.

Payload/Schade
* Verspreiding op tamelijk intelligente wijze, waardoor herkenning
lastig is.
* Installatie van een backdoor component op uw systeem waardoor de
virusschrijver/cracker
toegang kan krijgen tot uw systeem.
* Verspreiding als antwoord op bestaande berichten, waardoor het
betrouwbaar lijkt.
