With the US-International keyboard set for Windows, the Icelandic
thorn is under Ctrl-Alt-T (or right-ALT-T). Many other characters,
for languages from Iceland to Italy, and Finland to Portugal, are
easy to type on this keyboard layout. It works in any Windows
program, including Word, which, as you say, has it own but different
shortcuts.
