Subject: Help needed

Dear Lowlanders,

A friend of mine in Germany needs some information, and I was unable to
provide it. I wonder if any of you have the needed information. Among other
things, she wrote the following:

der Sprache, eine uralte Dame, eines der Gedichte im Original. Jetzt ist sie
wohl auch tot, und da liegen die Gedichte, und nie wieder wird jemand
erfahren, was drin steht... merkwürdig, nicht? Nun suche ich den Namen des
Dichters. Eine Websuche hat mir nichts gebracht.

She further explains:

Ich will das übrigens nicht rauskriegen, um die testamentarische Verfügung
des Dichters zu missachten; ich könnte ja gar nichts übersetzen, weil ich
die Originalsprache nicht kann. Vielmehr will ich diesem Dichter, dieser
konsequenten Verneinung ein Gedicht widmen, das ich gerade selber schreibe.
Und überhaupt interessiert es mich.

Summary:
Someone who lived (probably in the early 20th century) somewhere on
Germany's Schleswig-Holstein North See coast wrote rather good poetry in his
specific, moribund language (perhaps a North Frisian variety). He decreed
(in his will as well) that none of his works be translated. Does anyone know
who this person was? My friend saw something about this on TV years ago and
has forgotten details. She added that she does not wish to find out more
because she is planning to disrespect that poet's wishes. Rather, she is
interested in it in general terms and is toying with the idea of writing a
poem about this and of dedicating it to his memory.

If you know anything about this, please let me know, and I will make sure
she receives the information.

Obviously I myself would love to find out about it.  If it is in a language
I can understand -- and I have a strong feeling it is -- I would love to
read some of his poetry, though I too would respect his wishes by not
translating it.
