One more thing: my most important translation tool these days is not a
dictionary, but the Google search engine. That's where I hunt for websites
in the target languages of companies who work in the relevant industry, and
it's very handy to take polls - you come up with an expression and then you
"google" it to see how many hits you get, and in what context others
(presumably native speakers) have used the term. Google takes the guesswork
out of translations, for which I am eternally grateful - it saves a lot of
money, too, because you don't need a whole lot of specialised literature on
every topic under the sun.

Google is also where I found the rest of the song about the "vreselijke
moord in Lisse", since it was driving me crazy that I didn't know how it
ended... :-)
