Beste Ingmar, Elsie, en Ron,

Onderwerp: Language varieties

Dis my straf dat ek so laat die pos lees deesdaë, dat dit my toeval dat ek
Elsie se inset net kan staaf. Die digter Adam Small het die stelling bewys
dat die taalgebruiksafwykings tussen 'Dietsman' en 'Bruinmens' 'n politieke,
nie 'n dialektiese basis gehad het. Die motivering daartoe verdwyn weer
redelik vinnig. Hoe ookal, van ouds het beide wit en bruin Afrikaner in
sekere gebiede vrylik gebruik van die 'dj' gemaak. "Dag Djannie, hoe gan dit
met djou?" Soms is dit net in informele taal, en soms beide formeel en
informeel.
