Arend Victorie quotes a little ditty about a rooster on a stick. It sounds
to me like “palm pasen” .

My grandparents lived in Almelo, I remember going with them to Tubbergen to
see the procession.

But that is long ago.

After a good night’s sleep it came to me that the original (or a derivative,
who knows?),  was about a monkey.

Er zat een aapje op een stokje
bij mijn Moeders keukendeur
Het had een gaatje in zijn rokje
daar stak het beest zijn staartje deur.

But then again there was nothing about its attachment by a “linker poot”.
Maybe another night’s dream!

My translation:

Low Saxon (North Saxon of Germany, AS spelling):

   Daar seyt 'n lüt aap up 'n stok
   Achter mouder er koeken-doer.
   Hey har 'n lüt gat in syn rok,
   Un daar steek syn lüt steyrt doer.

   Hey har 'n ring an syn lüt vinger,
   Un dey was vun luder guld.
   Un dou dachen al de minschen,

   Daor zéit 'n lut aop óp 'n stok
