Subject: LL-L: Ethymology
Hi Ron, Lowlanners,
some days ago I got a mail ('One Word A Day'; Paul Smith) dealing with E:
'umpteen'.
My first guessing was correct: G: 'unzählig[e]' was the translation.
I'm wondering about this word's ethymological history. Could it be a loan or
'free-style' adoption from the continent?
Greutens/Regards
Johannes "Jonny" Meibohm
