Folks,

The School of Scottish Studies, Edinburgh 
(http://www.pearl.arts.ed.ac.uk/SoSS/), offers a rather nice online 
collection of sound recordings with transcriptions in their "Tocher" 
("Dowry", http://www.pearl.arts.ed.ac.uk/).  Pretty much all main narrators 
appear to be aged.

Most recordings are in various dialects of Gaelic.  Some are in English, 
some in Scots (with highly Anglicized spelling) and some of them in a 
mixture of the two.  Oftentimes you need to open a file to know which 
language is used.

This is a splendid resource for folks interested in Scottish language 
varieties, folklore and history, to name but three ... oh, and also a couple 
of recipes.

Whenever you open a Tocher file, a separate screen opens and the bottommost 
window contains the sound control.  In my experience, using Mozilla Firefox, 
you need to wipe across the control panel to bring up the buttons.  Click on 
the right-facing arrow on the left to start downloading and playing.
