We've always had shoehorns about in my family in Scotland, and my trusty
clothesbrush with shoehorn handle is always in my briefcase ready for
action.

I see a shoehorn is pretty much a necessity for keeping shoes in good
condition, but judging by the people I see walking about in shoes that
clearly haven't even been polished in weeks, I don't suppose shoe care
is much of a priority these days. For other people, that is - there's
nothing I enjoy more (well, there is, but you know what I mean!) than
lining up all my shoes and working down the row polishing the lot!

Or am I just addicted to the smell of shoe polish?  :)

Perhaps the Dutch is categorising differently from the English?

In English we have "equations" and "inequations". Equations have an
equals sign, eg "x = y" while inequations have a greater than, less
than, greater than or equal to, or less than or equal to sign, eg "x < y".

Perhaps the Dutch word refers to both equations and inequations, in
which case "comparison" might be a good way of expressing it?

Geef of toegaankelik?
Iederiene die as wel es wat mit tael in de weer is komt ok de hieltied veur
de vraoge te staon: moe'k een haost onbekend (oold) woord bruken of bruuk ik
een vule bekender (toegaankeliker) mar eins lange niet zoe'n mooi woord?
In oons projekt van et biebelvertaelen in 't Stellingwarfs kiezen wi'j
eerder veur de toegaankelikhied (tael van alledag) as veur et maeken van
een - taelkundig - museumwark.
Mar is dat wel terechte?
