Hey, that's funny, [S] for [tS] is just like the 'sloppy' way of 
pronouncing English loanwords by the Dutch, e.g. Dutch 'checken'
["SEk@] rather than ["tSEk@(n)].

Btw in most Arabic dialects, i.e. the spoken language in Arabic countries,
'j' in words like jazeera or jihad is pronounced [Z], not [dZ] as in 
Classical and Modern standard Arabic. In some dialects, e.g. Iraqi and 
Algerian, it is preserved as [dZ], and in Egyptian (Cairene) it is [g].
Anyway, CNN-pronos like [Zi"hA:d] and [Za"zi:ra] are not incorrect in that 
light.
