Hi all,
Now that I listen for some months en did some postings already, I think it
's a good time to introduce myself a bit to all of you.
I've been born and raised in Stellingwarf wich is a very small part of
Friesland on top of The Netherlands, near Groningen and Drenthe.
Stellingwarf has an ammount of appr. 50.000 people. Half of them (most 50+,
yes me to) do speak Stellingwarfs as a varity of the Low Saxon language. See
the 'Wren' (et Doempien) in 't Stellingwarfs.
During my 'hippie-time' I travveled all alone in my eendje (2CV) about a few
years all over Europe. Most beautiful countrys those days for me where
Sweden and (the oold) Yougoslavie. Just for fun I laerned some French and
Rusian.
Today I do speak, read and write Stellingwarfs and Dutch every day, and do
speak and read Frisian; no more writings in Frisian since we got a new
'stavering' (spelling) in 1984. I also use some very basic English for my
job as a computerman (Cobol-krasser). Furthermore, my English and German are
just good enough for spending a holyday.
I'm not very special interested in all kind of languages or etymilogy or so,
but sometimes I'm just looking for some special words while doing my hobby
as translator of the holy Bible into Stellingwarfs. That's also the reason
how I came to the LL-list some time ago. No, I'm not writing the whole Bible
from scratch but made a computerprogram myself that translates about 80
percent full automaticly. Then begins the real job: correct and improve,
correct and improve, correct and improve.
What - for instance - are some fine Stellingwarfs words for the clothing in
the oold days. From the Bible in Dutch: "Jozef droeg een mooi kleed." but in
Stellingwarf we have a _kleed_ (E:carpet) on the floor or even on the table
but we do not wear a _kleed_. We do wear trousers (broek) and a shirt or a
blouse (boezeroen). How will I call such a _kleed_ in Stellingwarfs or LS?
Until now I use for _kleed_ a _hoele_ (dop, schil, omhulsel), or should I
use _burka_? Was there in the oold days a different between the clothing
between man and woman? _Vernietigen_, _verwoesten_ are also such kind of
words. Until now the Bible in Afrikaans helps me a lot.

Well, this will do for this moment. This is who I am and what I do. Ofcourse
I make some poems, novelles and so on, but that kind of stuff is what You'll
find in 'An de liende', our monthly 'elektrisch blattien' since january this
year. Some of You already found it in Your mailbox. Sometimes I will pick-up
a piece from the LL-list for use in our blattien if You don't mind. For
