You can have a lot of fun with that idea. ;) I touched on it in an
as-yet-completed SF novel - The House of the Gods - about genetically
engineered and modified humans (homo sapiens/insipiens) in Alpha Centauri
(AC), abducted c. 80 000 - 40 000 Before Present by aliens, and just come in
contact with humanity from Earth care and courtesy of a starship that arrived
in the bisolar system uninvited. ;)
Some AC radicals start talking about a Yuman Siritse - Human Commonwealth in
an AC conlang, Tanala - which Tyeari, the guy at the centre of the story
mocks as unrealistic - you can't fit the 2 billion of AC humans and the 10
billion of Earth humans on the same planet - it's just not big enough. And
the logistics of transporting all 2 billion AC humans from Alpha Centauri to
Earth ... ;)
You can have a lot of fun with the various present-day mythologies floating
around - among them the idea that you can send people back to the place of
their origins. To send me back to the place of my origins entails a certain
amount of vivisection ... ;) I'm sure I'm honoured, but it sounds a bit
painful, and I wouldn't dream of taking from the people proposing this, the
honour of going first. ;)
Fools are a priceless source of fun:
"See the happy moron
"He doesn't give a damn
"I wish I was a moron
" - My God! Perhaps I am!"

Indeed, indeed!
Apparently you belong to the vast majority of humankind. I suppose even surgery,
pharmacology and UPS will have to advance their respective crafts a bit more
before we can embark on a test run of the remigration venture.
Good luck with the novel venture, though!
