Yes, I too like that very much. I heard it first when I was about 20 an more
years ago, when I was on a train from Innsbruck to Munich. There were a lot
of Italians in the train and I heard them talking about Monaco. And so I
asked the conductor, if "Monaco" is the Italian name. He said something
like: "Jo muass so sei, steht auf jeden Foi auf eana ihre Foakoatn drom."

I wonder if the German spelling would be better in line with Yiddish than
the English or international one.

This is a separate and external subject.  The brief answer is that people
used to think so too ... until the end of World War II ... Get my drift?
