Hi all,

I remembered this morning that the typical Afrikaans word for prompting a
dog to attack an intruder is "Sa!".

Could this be a shortened for "Sê!" as in 'the command is spoken'.

Incidentally the best word to chase a dog away is: Voertsek! a word my
children's German granny hates with a passion because it sounds so harsh. It
is the shortened form for 'Voert sê ek!' and showed its effectiveness when
a Barrington, RI dog wouldn't stop barking at me.
I hissed one 'voertsek!, and it stopped, turned around and walked back to
into its yard. And no, it wasn't a boerboel :-)

Imagining possible technical combinations used in the execution boggles the
mind. Who will throw the first match? And how long ahead of time do you have
to start applying for sainthoods?

Since it was you who discovered the German roots of "fiets" (D), it will be
you as well who will get the recognition of the entire Dutch academic
world...but alas, the scorn of the rest of the population will also be your
part :-D .

I'm willing to negotiate however.

I could first tell the jury that it was me who whispered those foolish
things in your ears. Next it would be a piece of cake for me to let myself
declare "non compos mentis" towards the Dutch jury (helps being Belgian and
Borat's alter ego).
You should plead guilty though...but!...dish up a story about being socially
ill-conditioned and spending a miserable youth due to a very strict Prussian
father...and a Jewish mother. That will help Reintje get away with it.

Then move to Amsterdam, unswear every oath you ever made in your life...and
apply for the Nobel prize.
