Well yes, every source that I consulted, confirmed the relation between
"kwaad" (D) and "Kot". Examples:

De Vries:

kwaad

bnw. (daarnaast dial. brab. antw. limb.) kôt, mnl. quaet, 'slecht, boos,
verkeerd', mnd. quāt 'slecht, zondig, gemeen, toornig', mhd. (nederrijns)
quāt 'slecht, boos', ofri. quād 'slecht, boos', me. cwēd ' slecht'. -- Men
verbindt dit gewoonlijk met het homoniem mnl. quaet o. 'vuilnis, drek', mnd.
quāt, ohd. quāt, chwāt, mhd, quāt, quōt, kōt, kāt (nhd. kot), ofri. quād,
oe. cwēad 'drek, mest'. -- lit. gĕda v. 'schande, oneer', osl. gadŭ
'kruipend (eig. walgelijk) dier', kymr. budr 'vuil' (IEW 483-5). -- > dial.
der Mark Brandenburg kvǭat 'zwak, ziekelijk, mager' (vgl. Teuchert
Sprachreste 316).

Kot SmSubstantiv Maskulinum (früher auch n.)  erw.erweiterter
Standardwortschatz reg.regional (11. Jh.), mhd. quāt, kāt n., quōt, kōt
m./n., fnhd. auch Kat, Quat, ahd. quāt, kōt n. Stammwort aus vd. *kwæda-
m./n. "Kot, Dung", neben dem ae. cwead n., afr. kwād "Dung" mit unerklärtem
Lautunterschied steht (*kwaudā- ?). Hierzu, wohl durch Verwendung des
Substantivs als (prädikatives) adjektiv mhd. quāt, mndd. quāt, mndl. quaet,
nndl. kwaad "schlecht, böse, eklig". Außergermanisch vergleichen sich wohl
ai. gūtha- m. "Kot, Exkrement" (ai. guváti "scheißt"), arm. kow, koy "Mist",
russ. govnó n. "Mist, Dreck, Kot". Dabei ließe ein ansātz (ig.) *gewe- mit
*gwē- für das Germanische, *gue- für das Indische, und *goue- für das
Armenische und Slavische die Formen miteinander verknüpfen. Die Einzelheiten
sind aber unsicher.

I never connected these words mentally. But now that I see it explained it
