for your tips!

In Germanys darkest time, in the 30ies of the last century, a lot of local
teachers made researches about local history. They still *had* access to
meanwhile vanished documents, and thus, with proper respect to all this
'Blut-und-Boden'-stuff, we can use them for today's investigations.

These Journals indeed are very interesting, and I am (still) lucky to have
an old neighbour who has a big collection of them, partly dating back
themselves into the 19th c. and full of quotations from and transcriptions
of old resources.

... as long as those families don't sit on them, as they allow people like
me to take a look into their material, and as long as their sometimes really
huge collections had been organized, from time to time.
> Also many old out-of-print books useful for genealogical research are now
being scanned onto

That's a new idea for me. I've always avoided these organizations which try
to sell you a doubtful genealogy of your family, but there should be serious
ones I haven't looked for yet.
