Hello Laglanners,

Finally, finally, I have caught our Ron out on a limb. I shall now commence
shaking said limb as follows:

Ron would have it that, in Gothic, *faihu *meant only fee or money. Not
true. It meant primarily *cattle*, and the other meanings came later. See
Koebler, Streitberg, Tunstall, or any other dictionary compilations.



Interestingly, the English *fee *also means quality or nature of title to
land: e.g., fee simple, fee tail (mix of English and Norman French: *tail *

Hi, Arthurs,

I'm glad you got a tickle and a boost out of that.

I didn't bother going beyond the *Oxford English Dictionary*, and that's
what it said.
