Thanks a lot for the welcome, Ron. No, not really the first time - but I'm
more of a reader than a writer so far.



And thanks also for understanding and explaining my name, Your introduction
outs me as a native Westphalian I was born in the Westphalian highlands
(Suerland/Sauerland) although the name is from the Westphalian lowlands (the
"Antepohl" actually exists in Preußisch Oldendorf). I must have been a
landscape full of ponds and pools at some time considering all the
"Gausepohls" (goose ponds), "Poggenpohls" (frog ponds), "Swahnepohls" (swan
ponds) and even "Krakenpohls" (crow ponds - they must have been running out
of water animals).



Unfortunately my knowledge of Westphalian LS is mainly passive but I get
inspired by Joachim (in terms of Westphalian) and all the other
LL-speakers.

Sorry for the late reply.

I am not aware of any lowlands word, the German word for this relation
however is "Schwippschwager/Schwippschwägering" ("Schwager"/"Schwägering"
being the word for brother/sister in law). Maybe some of the more compeens
LS-speakers could state whether that translates into "swippswager" i LS.

Hoi Lowlanders,



Yesterday I joined a discussion about family relation names. We all know
words like mother, father, brother and sister. There are also words for your
inlaws (brother-in-law) or for other generations (grandma etc.). But how do
we call (in one word) the brother (Hans) of the wife (Marieke) of my brother
(Jan)? So Jan is my brother, Marieke is his wife, so she is my
sister-in-law, but how do we label the relation between me and Hans? We came
up with the name schoonzusterbroer, but that is a non-existing word, isn't
it?



Is there a language in which it is possible to express this kind of
relationship? Who can help me?
