Subject: Projects
Dear Lowlanders,
This weekend I was so fortunate as to add some non-subscribers'
contributions to our Anniversary presentation (
http://lowlands-l.net/anniversary/).
Stefan Lubbersen in the Netherlands contributed a translation of the story
in Veluwe Low Saxon:
http://lowlands-l.net/anniversary/veluws.php
Outside the Lowlands region, our Mike Wintzer made an exemplary effort by
rounding up his neighbors in Southern France and having them narrate
existing translations of two Southwest European regional languages:
Three ladies (one of them aged 85 -- and we don't spare even the elderly)
narrated the Occitan translation:

One gentleman, originally from Valencia, Spain, narrated the translation in
Valencian, one of the dialect groups of the Catalan-Valencian-Balear
language, which has some speaker communities in Southern France and in
Sardinia, Italy, as well:

Thanks to you and your neighbors, Mike! Hopefully others will follow your
lead.
There are now 251 translations of the story and 255 sound files, folks! This
is by far our most visited presentation.
Folks, don't forget that a mere click (next to "Language information") takes
you to an introduction to a language or dialect group.
I should also mention that our other projects are not supposed to lie
dormant.
I was happy to add another one of our Tom Mc Rae's masterpieces (
http://lowlands-l.net/gallery/mcrae.php). This is another gem in his series
"Poems by the New McGonagall" (
http://lowlands-l.net/gallery/mcrae_new_mcgonagall.php).
(You may encounter the old McGonagall here:
http://lowlands-l.net/gallery/mcrae_mcgonagall.php .)
With its most intriguing and rather elegant title "The Squidledeydoo", this
latest of our Tom's gems in masterful Scottish style causes you to reflect
on the pluses and minuses of literacy:

Enjoy!
Regards,
