Subject: Music or Humour ?



Ron/Reinhard mentioned the shawm, which reminds me of a delightful story.

G B Shaw was not the easiest of people to live with, having an irascible
nature. One day on receiving the post, he exploded in fury at having been
addressed as G B Shawm " Can't people be accurate! Can't people know how to
spell! Can't people tell when they write a word that doesn't even exist!"
Whereupon Mrs Shaw ( patience personified) took out an English dictionary
and drew his attention to the word 'shawm' with its definition = an old
fashioned wind instrument !

Not such a stupid correspondant after all!
